PEI Coalition for Women's Leadership Board of Directors 2024/2025
Chelsey Rogerson is a senior communicator with 10+ years of experience in political communications, providing strategic advice and support to Members of Parliament. She has led communications and marketing in both the private and public sectors and is currently the Director of Communications and Marketing for the Canadian Alliance for Skills and Training in Life Sciences (CASTL). An avid volunteer, along with her role as Board Chair for the PEI Coalition for Women in Government, Chelsey serves on the boards of the Rotary Club of Charlottetown, Downtown Charlottetown Inc., and the PEI Alliance for Mental Well-Being. She holds a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Prince Edward Island and a Diploma in Public Relations from Algonquin College. Chelsey lives in Charlottetown with her partner Sarah and their two Westies.
Caroline has been a registered nurse for 8 years and has worked in women’s health, critical care, and rural and remote nursing. She is currently serving as a council member on the PEI Advisory Council on the Status of Women and as a director on the PEI Family Violence Prevention Services board of directors. She has also previously served as a director on the PEI Rape and Sexual Assault Centre board of directors. Caroline grew up in Charlottetown and now lives in Summerside but she has lived in five different provinces, and three different countries. Other than PEI, her favourite places to live were Nova Scotia and South Korea.
Hannah Bell is an independent business consultant and community advocate, with over thirty years experience in strategic planning, change management, and policy development in non-profit and private sectors, and with provincial and federal government. She was elected to the Legislative Assembly for Prince Edward Island as the member for Charlottetown-Belvedere in 2017, re-elected in 2019, and served until 2023. During that time she held various roles including Official Opposition House Leader, Chair of Standing Committee Public Accounts, and member of various other standing committees as well as Official Opposition Critic for Social Development & Housing, Finance, And Climate Action. She is committed to working for the greater good in the community, building capacity and taking direct action on food security, housing, mutual aid, equity and social justice. Hannah holds an MBA from the University of Prince Edward Island, and lives in Charlottetown with her mother, her daughter, and an ever-growing assortment of rescued pets.
Leah-Jane first became involved with politics in the early 90’s by volunteering on a few provincial campaigns where she fell in love with the challenge and excitement of the whole process. She took a break from politics in 2000 to care for her husband who became ill. Leah-Jane returned to politics in 2015 where she ran at both the provincial and federal levels for the NPD. She has run a total of three provincial campaigns and two federal campaigns, remaining steadfast to the NDP. Though it was a great deal of work, she has enjoyed the journey. Leah-Jane is currently serving her second term as a councillor on the Rural Municipality of North Wiltshire council and finds great pleasure in contributing to the health and vibrancy of her community. Since 1992, she has enjoyed a wonderful career as a tour guide and has even run her own guide business. Leah-Jane’s greatest achievement has been raising three fabulous children who have blessed her with six wonderful grandchildren.
Meet Teresa Tu, a determined and passionate advocate for newcomers to Prince Edward Island (PEI). Teresa's journey to becoming a dedicated leader began with her decision to move to PEI in her youth to learn a new language and pursue higher education. During this time, Teresa became involved with the community. This decision would shape her continuous commitment to making a positive impact in the community.
Teresa recognizes the potential within every individual. Having experiences as a newcomer, Teresa understands the difficulties that newcomers face and she is able to empathize with others' experiences and understand them on a personal level. Her relentless efforts and genuine passion for fostering a sense of belonging for newcomers have made her an invaluable asset to the inclusive community. Her vision is to create a future where talented women and minorities in our communities are not only heard but valued and well-represented at all levels of government. Teresa firmly believes that a diverse government is a stronger government that will lead to a stronger society.
